Here is a brief overview of its history: 1905: The land on which Main Street Station sits was originally owned by the San Pedro, Los Angeles, and Salt Lake Railroad. The railroad company operated a train depot on the site, serving as a transportation hub for the growing city. 1910: The San Pedro, Los Angeles, and Salt Lake Railroad Depot was constructed in Edwardian architectural style, designed by prominent architect T.H. Pinkerton. The depot featured ornate detailing and served as the centerpiece of downtown Las Vegas. 1975: As alternative modes of transportation gained popularity and reduced the need for train depots, the San Pedro, Los Angeles, and Salt Lake Railroad Depot was closed. 1978: Bob Snow, a businessman and entrepreneur, purchased the depot with a vision to transform it into a hotel and casino. The building was renovated to preserve its historic character, and the Main Street Station Hotel, Casino, and Brewery opened its doors in 1978. 1991: Boyd Gaming Corporation acquired the Main Street Station Hotel and Casino, becoming its owner and operator. Boyd Gaming expanded the property, adding additional hotel rooms, a parking garage, and a pedestrian bridge connecting the casino to the California Hotel and Casino. Throughout the years, the Main Street Station has become known for its Victorian-era theme, incorporating various artifacts and antiques throughout the property. The hotel and casino feature a collection of rare memorabilia, including a chandelier from the Figaro Opera House in Paris and a portion of the Berlin Wall. Today, the Main Street Station Hotel and Casino continues to be a popular destination for visitors seeking a nostalgic and historic Las Vegas experience.
